NICHOLAS NOLAN, LMHC
1416 Sweet Home Rd. Suite 1. Amherst NY 14228
I am a trauma therapist with 6 years in the behavioral health field. I have my LMHC since 2021 with my masters from Medaille University and my Bachelors from University at Buffalo.
I am interested in getting to know a clients’ story. I love understanding what events have shaped people and understanding how current behaviors and emotional response make sense given history. I work with my clients to understand how the past and present are connected in order to help them create a new path for themselves out of this understanding. I foster a collaborative environment in my sessions such that the ideas of both the client and myself are present in order to find the best way to create change.
I largely work from a transdiagnostic lens because I believe a diagnosis cannot fully describe an individual. That being said, some common concerns that I have worked with are Anxiety, Depression, OCD, personality disorders, dissociation/DDNOS/DID, self esteem/self worth concerns, family of origin concerns, and a history of any kind of trauma.
I utilize a variety of approaches in my therapy and tailor the approach to best fit the client across from me. Therapies include: EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Ego state/IFS/Parts work, Schema therapy, Mindfulness techniques/MBSR, existentialism and DBT.
